Hello Friends
My history with food:
This is Kenia Lievanos and in this blog post, you will know specifically about my long health journey through the years!! And my beginning with the “All In” health journey !!!
So I am from Dallas Texas, I grew up in Reynosa, Mexico & South Texas USA.
Backstory from my parents about me when I was younger, I ate from all the food groups and loved milk. There was never an issue about food or being picky at all.
Tillll….
My teenage years are when everything started going downhill for me. I started having a hard time processing/digesting foods. My colon would always hurt and so inevitably I started limiting or cutting foods off my diet.
Present Kenia: Biggest advice: {Unwise decision on my part, I know now. Never eliminate or cut cold turkey from any food group in your diet, but rather go to your doctor and go from there. They can give better solutions depending on your needs. }
Then…
When I was 16 years I was a vegan for a year or so and then vegetarian on and off. The transition from eating everything to vegan was strenuous on my body. I wasn’t meeting my nutrition requirements being vegan and that took a toll physically on my body being super skinny more than I already was. Mental clarity wasn’t there, I had all the bad cons of being vegan, weak bones, fogginess, sleepy all the time, not strong physically, losing weight, etc. Not including all the LIFE stuff that happens, school, almost graduating and applying to colleges, etc….
Present Kenia: {Being vegan and vegetarian will be the greatest and best decision for SOME people, but for me, it wasn’t. So going to a doctor and having someone constantly check on you if you’re making a sharp change diet-wise is best.} Seeing myself through pictures at that specific time, I am unrecognizable to where I am now (2023 year am writing this). Praise be to God for that.
My spirit, soul, and body were at the worst I had ever been, at my most vulnerable place.
(between this and the next paragraph of information, is a testimony of what God did, will probably share it in due time with you all maybe .)
Quitting veganism and vegetarianism was the best decision at that time that I made for myself. The first months were the hardest months especially, in my body starting to digest things I cut was tough. Milk was the hardest food to incorporate back in. Then, not too long after I did the “All In ” food journey by Ricola J Rinaldi. And it’s been challenging but so glad I took that risk and went All In for myself.
-Here is the LINK from my blog post “What is the “ALL IN” food journey by Nicola J. Rinaldi”. If you want to read more on that topic!!!
My start of the ALL IN Journey:
-The first few months I was devouring food and eating so much from the deficit that my body craved. From the food groups, fat was something I increased in portion more than the rest.
– In the beginning, I ate plenty of calories recommended for the all-in journey which were more than what I was consuming before. This was tough on my mental health by my old mindset of not wanting to give healthy ways of living/thinking a chance. But slowly getting out of my old mentality helped dramatically in eating being something joyful for me to do rather than a have-to-do.
-Some days were harder than others, was a constant up-and-down journey but I am grateful to be on. There are many resources that helped me through this, I will make a blog post on that later on.
-Now present time 3 years and some months being All In, I am happy and healthy in all (body, soul, and spirit). My relationship with food now is at a healthy place, see food as fuel for the body.
– On September 29, 2023, I celebrate 4 years of All In. WOOO HOOO
(there are more events and things I can list, if you want a more detailed and in-depth view of my journey let me know in the comments )
Now I am so grateful for where I am and excited for what God is going to do with my story. Everyone’s story in recovery is going to be different, so don’t compare my story to yours. But rather celebrate what is happening in your life because it matters and it is for a purpose.
Just a note: Our body is amazing, it does great things for us.
A reminder: The journey to healing never stops, just keep that as a reminder. Give grace to yourself always.
If you relate or are at the beginning of your journey to getting better or are at a good place with food, comment down below anything that you took away from this blog post!!
Have an amazing day everyone
