Ever feel like you’re not doing enough like the Christian influencer on Instagram. Or you were not productive enough as you would have wanted to, you slept in and did not have time to do your Quiet time, etc, etc, etc. These were my thoughts not so long ago, but letting perfectionism go as a Christian was the best thing that I have done.
As a person whose mind is type A and who loves lists, and things to go a certain way , my mind is always running and thinking of the next thing to do, having a standard was unconsciously there. When I did not do as I had planned, I felt guilt and shame and my whole day I remembered what I did not do.
But as I have started to truly live for God as a Christian recently and not as a lukewarm believer (which I was for some time), throwing away and letting go of expectations for myself and perfectionism aside has been difficult but worth it. Now I remind myself that the journey as a believer in Jesus Christ is a journey and everyone’s day, habits, morning and night routines are supposed to be different depending on the person. The season a person is heavily impacted by what their day-to-day looks like, plus many things of life stuff happening additionally.
Remembering that a relationship with God (as a believer) will be unique/special depending on the calling and purpose God intends for you.

Stop beating yourself up with expectations that are not healthy, guidelines that are not humanly possible because LIFE happens; you need to adapt day by day your schedule, know that you are where you are meant to be NOW.
Start letting go of Perfectionist habits that only harm you, and put realistic yet beneficial practices in place.
Yes, healthy habits can lead to doing things more consistently over time, but the mindset behind doing something and how you talk to yourself after not doing something ( or not having the time to) should be graceful. Not with shame or guilt in any way!!!!
Give yourself grace and love, just as you do that freely to others, apply that to yourself if you’re too hard on yourself.
Now I do not have the thoughts I had in the intro paragraph, but ones that speak life to my soul and spirit.
If you never let go of perfectionism, you will never experience the life GOD has for you.!!!
Perfectionism kills the soul but acceptance and being content with who and where you are is enough!!
Thank you for reading
Have an amazing day & be gentle to yourself today and always!!
